Attendance, Absence and Illness
We are proud of our high attendance, which we hope means that the children enjoy coming to school! Time off for holidays during term time is now subject to new regulations and parents are asked to seek permission for any absence in advance from Mrs Dunn as headteachers are no longer allowed to grant leave unless there are exceptional circumstances. Our Policy to Promote High Attendance has been updated to reflect the national changes, including information about what may be considered to be an ‘exceptional’ circumstance.
Regulations
Please note that current regulations came into effect in September 2015 and information for parents is given in the leaflet below from Hampshire County Council. The leaflet below reflects the updates which came in effect in February 2019.
Advice on the issuing of Penalty Notices for Parents

Medicines in school
To help working parents, we are happy to administer most medicines during the school day. A medical consent form is required in order for medicines to be given and this can be obtained from the School Office or downloaded here Administering of Medicines Form for Parents and Carers
Advice on your child’s health can be found from the School Nursing Service via their website http://www.southernhealth.nhs.uk/services/childrens-services/school-nursing/
Reporting absence
If a child is away from school parents are required to inform the school on the first day of absence. If we don’t hear from you by 9.30am we will contact you by telephone to make sure your child is safe. We ask that all non-emergency medical and dental appointments are made outside of school hours.
