Ofsted

Ofsted Report - Click here to read the 2013 Report

We recognise that our Ofsted was a significant number of years ago now but we continue to offer an excellent education and strive to achieve the very best we can for all our children.

The current framework and inspection criteria is (rightly) challenging and places a strong emphasis on progress achieved in all subjects, not just Maths and English.  We believe this is a really positive change and we are currently focussing on the further developments and improvements that we want to make in subjects such as Computing, Design Technology etc.   At present, we believe that we have a really good foundation curriculum but we are aspirational for what more we can plan and deliver now that we are able (fingers crossed) to cover all those units of learning in school again.

We know that when Ofsted visit, they will see children and staff working hard and achieving successfully in a school where everyone works together in a positive, calm, supportive and happy environment.   We have extremely high expectations of ourselves and continue to reflect, refine and make changes and improvements.   It has not been the easiest time in school over the last two years but we are so proud of what we have continued to achieve for the children and of our ongoing partnership with you as parents. The determination, resilience and flexibility of the children has astounded us at times and the Heatherside spirit has shone through.  We do what we do because we want our school to be the best it can be for everyone that is part of it, day in day out.  Ofsted and the Local Authority visits provide an opportunity for professional dialogue and, along with the work of Governors, also hold the school to account for the education we provide.
