Job Vacancies

We are currently seeking to support a LSA for five afternoons a week from September. Please see below for the advert and application form.
We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified or experienced LSA to provide a mixture of one-to-one and in class support, most probably in Year 4 in the afternoons. This role will also include working 5 lunchtimes, supporting all children through their playtime. We believe that having Learning Support staff at lunchtimes provides quality provision and high levels of continuity for all our children. This is a temporary post for one year initially as it is linked to some of our children's Education and Health Care Plan provision and support.
Much of the support required is to help scaffold and adapt learning, breaking it down into achievable steps to help children build skills, confidence and independence. However, we are also hoping to appoint a LSA with knowledge and experience of supporting children who may benefit from short regulation breaks during the afternoon sessions.
You would be working in partnership with the classteacher/SENDCo and will be part of our experienced learning support and pastoral team. Heatherside Junior is a happy, inclusive and successful school where children show a really positive attitude towards their learning and work hard to be their best. Do you...
- Believe passionately in inclusion for all pupils?
- Have experience in supporting children with sensory or emotional regulation?
- Promote high expectations of children's progress and attainment, celebrate strengths and help foster independence and self-confidence?
- Have experience of working/supporting in a primary school setting?
- Possess good literacy and numeracy skills, evidenced by relevant qualifications?
Then we would love to hear from you! We can offer you
- Brilliant children, who really are really proud of being part of our school and want to do well.
- Supportive parents, governors and staff colleagues - we really are a team.
- A happy school community, where collaboration is a real strength and staff wellbeing is really important. We expect high standards but believe that everyone’s experience of school should be fun and memorable too!
Candidates who do not have specific learning support qualifications are still welcome to apply as we believe it is more about appointing the right person to this role. If you would like to know more about this position we would be happy to discuss this with you prior to your application, please just email us and we will be able to arrange a call.
Further details about the LSA role are given in our Job Description which can be found on our website here. We would encourage you to visit the school and find out more about the role if you are local and able to come along, even during the holidays. Please just email adminoffice@heatherside-jun.hants.sch.uk and someone will get back to you. There will also be an opportunity to visit prior to the closing date if you would like to see our school in action.

We currently do not use AI tools in our recruitment processes; however, we understand that you may choose to use AI tools to help you with your application.
If you do, please remember:
- AI-generated answers can often be generic and impersonal, which may not accurately reflect your qualifications, skills, and experiences.
- AI-generated applications may lack the personal touch that human-written applications have, this may make you seem less engaged or interested.
- Ensure the information provided genuinely represents your own voice and experience.
- You must not provide false or misleading information.
- If you rely too heavily on AI you might not develop the necessary skills to communicate your experiences and qualifications effectively in interviews or other stages of the hiring process. This may make you come across to the interviewer as a different person to the one that wrote the application form, and you may not be successful in the interview.
