Assessing progress
Throughout the children's time at our school, we continually assess and monitor their academic progress as well as other measures such as their attendance and social and emotional development.
Through Parents' Evenings and Reports, we share progress information with parents so that each child's learning journey is undertaken in partnership.
When are Parents' Evenings held?
We hold Parents' Evenings in the Autumn (usually just before half Term) and again at the end of the Summer Term, plus Pre-Report meetings in Spring for any children whose progress is not where we would want it to be at that point in the year.
What ‘progress points’ should my child be achieving?
For children who are Teacher Assessed at Age-Related Expectations (ARE) in Year 2, we would expect them to continue to be achieve each year at Key Stage 2 Juniors. For children assessed as Working Towards ARE, we want them to make equally good progress and aim for many of them to achieve ARE in their SATs by Year 6. This also applies if children are Teacher Assessed as Greater Depth in Year 2, although the way of assessing this at Key Stage 2 is different! Please see the document below which explains all this!

Are assessment systems the same at Key Stage 1 (Infants) and Key Stage 2 (Juniors)?
Unfortunately, not! Please see the attached document which explains the different assessment systems. Essentially, Key Stage 2 assessments are all based on statutory tests, except for Writing.
What about other subjects?
Teachers do also monitor the children's progress in all the other curriculum subjects but as there are no national tests for these areas, we use this assessment information to help shape our teaching and check the children's knowledge and understanding of what has been taught.
When do I get my child’s Report?
You will receive their Annual Report at the end of this term, where your child's teacher will share their achievements and next steps but please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns about your child's learning between now and then; we will always make time to help you or arrange a meeting/call.
