Homework will be set half-termly.  Children should be reading at least three times a week, practising weekly spellings and continuing to learn their Times Tables for rapid recall. 

Spellings

Understanding how to read and spell words is a key aspect of learning and we approach the teaching of spelling, vocabulary and phonics through a variety of ways.

At home we encourage children to practise the spelling rules and patterns that we are learning in school. Below is the spelling overview for Year 5 where you can see the pattern or rule your child is learning and the words they will focus on each week. There are also some ideas of how to practise these words at home. 

This week's homework is an art-based sketching one!
